I get most of these files from www, software searches, and friends who send it to me through file attachments by e-mail. I still don't know/not sure who sang some of the songs I have listed on this page, so if any of you recognize the tune after downloading one or more of these files and happen to remember who sang it, please e-mail it to me. What is MIDI? Musical Instrumental Digital Interface, or MIDI is a system for sending electronic messages through a cable of standardized design to control MIDI devices. Devices such as musical synthesizers, keyboards and drum machine responds and generates to MIDI's electronic messages. MIDI is not a product; it's a specification, it is actually a widely spread system of rules. MIDI allows a single person to control virtually an entire synthesized orchestra by a combination of instructions -the sequence- that tells the synthesizer to generate a particular type of sound - piano, trumpet, flute, drums, etc. creating a computerized sound-like version of the original music.
In Other Words...
A MIDI file is a really kewl musical sound that you can play over the 'puter. It sounds like a synthesizer, or maybe more like of the musical backgrounds you hear on video games. Its all music, no voices, so you can sing along with it.. no karaoke needed (if after singing and your computer screen breaks.. its not my fault :Þ) MIDI's are much more compressed than WAV files, which means you can download a MIDI file a whole lot less time than a WAV file.
